BLOGMAS: Christmas Checklist for Late Planners

Let's take a shot at our last-minute Christmas checklist! Before you think I am insane, I understand that we have a few days to Christmas.

Are you stunned at the rate at which time passes quickly? I am sure you are! Just yesterday, it was January, and today it's December.

There are tons of reasons why your planning turned out starting late. I can't judge because even as one without kids, it's hard to do my Christmas planning.

Life happens, and it is hard to manage every within the little time you've got.  Without burning through any of your time, below is my Christmas checklist, and hopefully, you can get some help from it.

First, you need to check yourself. Meaning you need to identify what you have. Below are my top three questions to ask while planning for the Christmas celebration.

What is your budget?
Yes, you have to recognize what you have to plan the celebrations. Working with an account does not mean you have to be strict with your spending this season. I think it helps us with better decision making. Also, it has a way of putting us in check, mainly because it is easy to overspend during this time of the year.

You are preparing for how many people?
It is very wise to identify how many people you are catering to this celebration. Putting this into consideration will help include everyone in your planning process.

Do you have enough time to get everything fixed?
How much time do you have to plan the perfect celebration? A week or four days? Importantly, can you pull it off within the time you have?

Checking yourself is the perfect time to identify if you need help. Also, you can start delegating some responsibilities. If you've got no support, this is an ideal time to decide to drop one or two things.

Christmas Checklist

Christmas decorations

This is an excellent way of giving your environment a Christmas feel.

My husband, who does not care so much for Christmas décor, made me understand that our house’s decorations make him excited for Christmas.

Identify the theme you want and start decorating early. If you have a full house, it is better. Two heads are better than one.

Decorating can be fun, but it is time-consuming. So start as soon as you can.

It took me a week to finish my house decor alone; this includes shopping for and decorating my tree, stairs, and centerpiece for my dining table.

Shop for Christmas decorations on Amazon.

Cards

Personally, this is the easiest of all my Christmas tasks. You know best what you want your card to look like, so take the right steps in achieving them. If you like making your card yourself, I will advise you to outsource this project mainly because you are short on time.

I am not a big fan of Christmas cards, but I love sending Christmas well wishes via social media to my friends and family.

To achieve this, I prepare a heartfelt and sincere message. Sometimes I personalize the letters. Then I send my write-up to an editor just for a second eye to go through it.

Very early on the 25th morning, my message hits the inboxes of the people on my list.

Food and drinks

Never be the fellow who does their Christmas food and drinks planning late. Every Christmas celebration deserves a proper and well-planned meal.

Please do not shop last minute.

As of today, I know what I will be serving for Christmas. I have made all the necessary bookings for the item or foodstuff I need.

Also, invest your time in learning new recipes and look for ways to make your Christmas menu rich and yummy.

Gifts

The time to shop for gifts is now! You can begin brainstorming. List those you intend to present with gifts. Buy, wrap, and label them far earlier than the primary day.

If you are struggling with picking gifts, here are some ideas.

Events

Make Christmas fun by planning events that you and your family can be a part of on Christmas Day.

This is a great way to have the family spend time together, and there is no better time to make this happen than Christmas.

What will you wear, and do you have plans for what your kids will have on? If not, start shopping, and thank God for internet shopping outlets. Don't forget to check for the estimated delivery date.

You can make this Christmas fun by planning for a themed activity with other members of your family.

Check out Christmas activities for children and adults at the end of this post.
If you plan to travel, start buying your plane tickets and make accommodation reservations.

Cleaning

Start deep cleaning ASAP! For me, this is not something serious because I clean every day, so my house is always clean.

If you do cleaning once a week, I will say, begin your cleaning now; however, don't log out of my blog.😉

You can leave the cleaning of the common area for later, as there will be many going in and out.

Make sure to declutter, dust, sweep, clean, and rearrange your house to give it a different feel for Christmas.

Cleaning earlier will set you up for a significantly more sorted-out Christmas week. I encourage you to do some cleaning every day.

Also, it is smart to decorate first before cleaning—Decorating can cause a mess, and you don't want to clean, then decorate because you will have to clean again.

Playlist

Music is a big part of Christmas, so you don't want to skip on it.

To make it fun and enjoyable for everyone, make your playlist a mixture of what everyone likes.

My point is that you should find out from your family their favorite Christmas songs. Then you can add those to your playlist.

I have some lit collections in my Christmas playlist; use the like below to view.
